The ACG is designed to foster the creating and growth of a learning community dedicated to educational computing skills for participants at all levels of expertise. Every attempt will be made to ensure that this learning community is non-hierarchical and supportive for all participants.
It is hope that through this program, the ACG would provide a viable alternative to the existing delivery of computing instruction and resources. In this regard, it is important that the learning community function within the existing institutional culture to demonstrate practical and sustainable alternatives and acts as an avenue to help networking people as well as networked computers.
The program is also designed to provide insight into institutional practices related to instructional technology. To be useful in this role, participants and coordinators may review existing policies and procedures with the intention of fostering a productive dialogue with the institution. While the main purpose of the ACG is to be responsive to the learning needs of participants, it can also provide a leadership role by introducing innovative computing practices and software applications to community members.
